Mr. Rickardo Anderson is a Senior Scientific Officer in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. His areas of specialisation are medical physics and electronics. In his position as Senior Scientific Officer, he operates and manages scientific equipment including for radio-active testing, to support teaching and research. Mr. Anderson is pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Medical Physics and was awarded the prestigious Dr. Barry Wint Scholarship by the Ministry of Health and Wellness in 2024. Rickardo was one of only two individuals selected in the Medical Physics category, highlighting his academic excellence and commitment to advancing the field.
Mr. Anderson attended Glenmuir High School where he became interested in the sciences. He graduated from The UWI, Mona with a Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.) in Medical Physics and a minor in Economics in 2019 and went on to gain corporate work experience at J. Wray & Nephew for a couple of years. He then obtained a job as a Laboratory Technologist in the Department of Physics, The UWI, Mona in 2022 where he prepares electronic instruments for teaching and experiments and generally maintains and repairs lab equipment as needed. Around this time, he also started his own company providing academic tutoring services.
