Mr. Eyton Ferguson was an Instructor in the Department of Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology, UWI, Mona until his death in November, 2025. He will be sadly missed by students and staff as he was a mentor to many. Mr. Ferguson's M.Sc. from The UWI was in Computer-based Management Systems and his B.Sc. in Computer Science was from the Sir Isaac Brock University in Canada. He joined the Department of Computer Science, The UWI - Faculty of Science and Technology as a Data Controller in 1985. Mr. Ferguson moved to the Planning Institute of Jamaica in 1987 and returned to The UWI in 2003 as an Assistant Lecturer after more than 16 years in the Industry, working with and doing consultancies for companies such as XEROX and Life of Jamaica. In addition to his hands-on experience in applying technology to real life problems, he had a deep understanding of organizational structures and procedures that helped him to effectively underscore the topics he taught. He was part of a software development team that developed Ricoche, an application used by the Faculty of Science and Technology, The UWI, Mona to enhance timetable scheduling and reduce conflicts in course activities. Eyton Ferguson was an amateur musician who played around on the guitar, wrote poetry and recorded songs at his home.
