BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Kevin Tankoo is the Head & Research Fellow of the Earthquake Unit (EQU) based at The UWI, Mona. The EQU is the national agency responsible for earthquake monitoring and seismic research. The Unit manages and operates different seismic and auxiliary networks while also functioning as Jamaica’s National Data Centre for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation. As a Research Fellow, Mr. Tankoo conducts research across various fields including geophysics, geology and disaster management. As the Head of the EQU, he works closely with other government entities serving on several committees, council, board and task force on a national level. In addition to being a Principal Researcher and the Head of Jamaica’s National Data Centre for the CTBTO, he is also a member of the International Seismological Centre Governing Council and a global scientific working group. Mr. Tankoo holds a B.Sc. in Geology and a M.Sc. with Distinction in Natural Resource Management- Disaster Management from The UWI, where he is now finalising a Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics.
